With money flowing out of bitcoin ETFs and into ether funds and rising prices, ether (ETH) is clearly gaining ground on bitcoin. This outperformance has continued throughout the past week and into the past month, increasing the margin to almost 4 percentage points.
Among the U.S. spot bitcoin ETFs, Fidelity’s FBTC had a net outflow of $229 million and ARK’s ARKB saw a net outflow of $63 million on April 13, according to SoSoValue data. The main source of marginal demand for bitcoin has clearly cooled down, as seen by the retreat.
Daily inflows of $7.7 million were relatively small for Ethereum exchange-traded funds (ETFs), but weekly inflows surged to $187 million for the week ending April 10, marking the best performance of 2026 and a dramatic turnaround from three consecutive weeks of outflows totaling over $308 million. A record $11.68 billion has been received so far.
Dramatic Network Activity Surge
Simultaneously, the Ethereum network is seeing a dramatic acceleration of activity. From 2.5 million on April 10 to about 3.6 million today, a 41% week-over-week increase is seen in the statistics from Artemis. Even though they started with much smaller bases, Sonic and TON were the only big chains to achieve greater percentage increases.

The number of Ethereum whale wallets with 100,000 ETH or more increased by 5.5% in the last week, according to Santiment’s analysis on Tuesday morning. With a gain of 17.4 percent, ETH surpassed the S&P 500 by 1830 basis points and gold by 2,743 basis points, according to Tom Lee of Fundstrat. This outperformance occurred since the beginning of the Iran crisis. At the time of writing, ETH is trading at $2,369, up 7.84% in the last 24 hours as per data from CMC.
