Elon Musk's Tweeted Price Meme Image Fetches Nearly $20K in NFT Auction NFT News
  • Tesla removed the BTC payment option in May of this year.
  • Beylin constructed the valuable meme as an NFT and put it up for auction on Zora.

The price of Bitcoin and Ethereum as “69-420” was posted by Elon Musk on Wednesday, who tweeted a meme image. Tesla CEO Elon Musk hasn’t spoken anything on bitcoin since the B-Word conference, but he has been tweeting about Floki and Doge in the meantime.

Despite the fact that Musk just shared the picture, as he has done in the past, the original artist seems to have made thousands of dollars from Musk’s posting. Eva Beylin, the user who posted the meme, is unconcerned about Musk failing to give her proper credit for her work.

Now, when Beylin constructed the valuable meme as an NFT and put it up for auction on Zora, the meme NFT got a bid for fiver wrapped ETH, which was worth around $20,000 at the time. For the fact that Beylin was not the original author of the meme template, she agreed to share a 20% portion of the proceeds from the sale of the NFT with the original creator.

$1 Billion in Profits

As a result of Bitcoin Energy FUD, Tesla removed the BTC payment option in May of this year, citing environmental concerns. A heated debate erupted between Musk and Bitcoin enthusiasts at the time, with Musk threatening to sell Tesla’s $1.5 billion Bitcoin purchase.

According to reports, Tesla earned more than $1 billion in profits by holding Bitcoin on its balance sheet throughout the down market. According to CoinMarketCap, the Bitcoin price today is $61,456.45 USD with a 24-hour trading volume of $30,214,173,886 USD.
