Argentina’s soccer league is getting renamed from Primera Division to Torneo Socios.com after the partnership with Chiliz for the season 2021/2022.
Socios.com is a kind-of fan engagement platform and basically the creator of “Fan tokens”. Moreover, users can also earn rewards via Socio.com app. The platform is deployed on blockchain technology and its digital currency is Chiliz (CHZ).
According to the announcement on July 15, Socio.com secures the naming rights to Argentina’s top-tier soccer league, the Primera División. The sponsorship deal with the Argentina Football Association (AFA) will see the competition renamed Torneo Socios.com for the 2021/2022 season.

As a result, the Primera División, the first association football league established outside of the United Kingdom in 1891, will be renamed Torneo Socios.com for the 2021/22 season.
First Commercial Brand to Rename
Both the parties have made a significant move with this new agreement. It is the cryptocurrency platform that has been chosen as the first commercial name to rebrand the league.
AFA President, Claudio Tapia, stated:
“We are very happy to begin this journey with Socios.com. It is a significant agreement because it is the first time the Argentine league has collaborated with a commercial brand to rename the tournament.”
Tapia stated that this new deal would strengthen their relationship and benefit both parties. Furthermore, Argentinian football will grow when it collaborates with leading brands that work side by side with AFA towards growth.
The direct-to-consumer platform uses blockchain technology to monetize the global fanbases of sporting organizations through the sale of licensed fan tokens. It has generated more than $150 million in profit to be shared with Socios.com partners in 2021 alone.
More than 40 sports organizations, including FC Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, and Juventus, have now partnered with Chiliz to launch fan tokens on Socios.com. Clients in South America include Brazilian soccer clubs SC Corinthians, Atletico Mineiro, and Chilean club Universidad de Chile.
