- It is the first zk-Rollup to launch on the mainnet.
- While Matter Labs performs security audits, the network will reside in Alpha.
The zkSync Era mainnet alpha is now accessible to all crypto enthusiasts, according to the official statement shared by Matter Labs. After four years of development, the Ethereum layer 2 scaling network has finally been made available to users in alpha, allowing for transfers that are both quicker and less expensive.
It is the first zk-Rollup to launch on the mainnet that is compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine. That enabling the majority of Ethereum DApps to easily port over with very little modification.
As per reports, on February 17, the fair onboarding alpha of the project was released. Enabling projects to port over and try out security and optimizations. According to Matter Labs, to lower the risk of any incidents, $3.8 million was spent on security testing, seven independent security assessments, and a bug bounty program.
The launch of zkSync is linked to airdrop expectations for the large numbers of non-tech crypto enthusiasts. At the same time, the token is not referenced in the announcement for the alpha release. But the fraudsters have already started offering a “ZKS airdrop” on brand-new websites. They hacked the Twitter accounts of several NFT personalities with hundreds of thousands of followers to publicize them.
