Blockchain’s decentralized and irreversible characteristics attract more businesses to use it in their new products. In a patent application, Xiaomi, a Chinese firm renowned for its mobile phones and gadgets, describes how it uses blockchain to create virtual characters. The corporation has just recently announced the existence of a patent for a “Virtual Character Processing Method, Device and Storage Medium,” which was first introduced in January 2022.
Metaverse Possibility Highly Likely
The business claims that the visuals needed to identify these characters may be created from various DNA sequences by submitting their own virtual characters for patent protection. The technique predicts that each character will be different and surprising in some way or another. A metaverse experience might be created using this way in the future; however, Xiaomi has not stated such plans.
When a character is generated, the patent outlines blockchain-based storage. According to the application, decentralized ledger technology would be used to record the characters’ DNA sequences to protect their unique combination against destruction. NFTs aren’t specifically mentioned in the patent, but the description of how blockchain is used hints at the possibility of using this or another comparable technology.
A patent application has been filed, but the idea is still to be implemented. Xiaomi’s virtual avatars have been rumored to be the star of its metaverse platform, although no official pronouncements have been made. Assuming the project goes through, this would be Xiaomi’s second foray into the crypto realm. Crypto Rabbits was the brand’s first collection of NFTs that was released in 2018. According to local reports, the project was shelved in March owing to a lack of interest.
