Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has spoken out about his plans to further decentralize and make the Ethereum network permissionless.

While writing from an Ethereum developer interop in Kenya, Buterin discussed the continuous technical advances and community challenges, highlighting the need of improving user and node operator experiences.

Several Advancements Discussed

Important Ethereum enhancements, like PeerDAS, the Verkle tree transition, and decentralized history storage via EIP 4444, made significant progress during the developer interop in Kenya.

The network’s capacity and energy usage may be enhanced using these advancements. Buterin emphasized how quickly Ethereum is developing and how the community is able to create big improvements that are beneficial for consumers on both Layer 1 (L1) and Layer 2 (L2).

In his discussion of block builders, Buterin primarily focused on the Miner Extractable Value (MEV). To create blocks of Ethereum, miners formerly relied on a straightforward method. But this problem has become much more intricate with the advent of MEV, a method to exploit certain activities in DeFi protocols.

The effects of MEVs may be lessened by the implementation of two new policies: MEV quarantining and MEV reduction. While MEV quarantining divides validators’ and builders’ responsibilities in an effort to maintain decentralization and fairness, MEV reduction focuses on the information that block producers have access to.

Also, research into the Ethereum staking ecosystem is crucial. Centralized providers and decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs) such as RocketPool and Lido now conduct the majority of the staking for Ethereum. The 32 ETH requirement and technical issues were highlighted by Buterin as the primary hurdles to a flourishing solo staking setting.
