Trueo Leaves Base for Ethereum in Major Prediction Market Migration

Trueo Leaves Base for Ethereum in Major Prediction Market Migration Market News
  • Trueo is moving from Base to Ethereum, citing Ethereum’s network effects, integrations and alignment with its vision.
  • Vitalik Buterin welcomed the move, calling Trueo a new L1 prediction market focused on decentralisation and ethical design.

Trueo, a decentralised prediction market protocol, has announced it is migrating from Base to Ethereum mainnet. The decision, the team says, has nothing to do with Base’s positioning among competing chains, and everything to do with what Ethereum offers that nothing else can match. The unparalleled network effects, global integrations, and philosophical alignment with what Trueo is building.

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin welcomed the move publicly, describing Trueo as a strong new prediction market contender on L1, one dedicated to decentralisation, ethical design, and doing genuinely interesting things with prediction markets as an economic primitive rather than chasing corporate-flavoured mediocrity.

Why Ethereum and Why Now?

The reasoning from Trueo is direct: on Base, integrations are practically limited to the immediate ecosystem. On Ethereum mainnet, the platform sits directly adjacent to the most liquid markets in all of crypto. It is one hop away from ecosystems built by the largest brands in both crypto and traditional finance.

The opportunity on Ethereum mainnet is also relatively uncrowded. Despite the countless DeFi primitives that exist on the network, the prediction market landscape on L1 remains largely untapped. Trueo is positioning itself to fill that gap with infrastructure built specifically for Ethereum’s base layer.

On the other hand, Trueo has been building toward one thing for the past eighteen months: a resolution system that traders can trust. The team points to a consistent gap in the prediction market sector: due process in dispute resolution is severely lacking, despite the industry’s growth over the past five years.

Trueo’s oracle is designed to process evidence from virtually any legitimate data source to produce fair and accurate outcomes. The team says consistent user feedback confirms the oracle is the most compelling aspect of the platform for traders, and Ethereum’s integration potential gives it the broadest possible surface area to operate across.

In addition, the prediction market is only as good as its oracle, and Ethereum is the best place in the world to build a decentralised and robust oracle system.

What Happens to Base Users?

The migration is designed to be seamless, and there will be no interruptions to the app’s operations before or during the transition; the development roadmap remains unchanged.

Users on Base are encouraged not to create markets expiring beyond January 31, 2027. Markets expiring before that date are unaffected. Trading, resolutions, and redemptions continue uninterrupted, and TYD will keep accruing yield throughout. Moreover, TRUE remains the protocol’s token. Holders can migrate to Ethereum at their own pace, with no migration cut-off date set.
