Due to the effects of the prolonged crypto winter, several crypto firms have laid off employees and the recent one is Games Studio, Immutable, laying off a number of staff, including a senior game designer. Immutable’s blockchain-based digital trading card game, Gods Unchained, has James Wakeham as its lead designer. Wakeham recently said on Twitter that he and a number of others had been fired and that he is now seeking work elsewhere.

Wakeham tweeted:

“Bad news, me and a bunch of people just got made redundant at Immutable. I’m a senior level game designer with 7+ years experience and 4+ years leading the design on a live service TCG. Any help with jobs would help a lot. DM me. Help me feed my cat Oscar! (Oscar not need a job)”

No Intentions to Stop Hiring

Six percent of the company’s personnel was let go as a result of the layoffs, which were disclosed during an all-hands meeting on Monday. A value of $2.5 billion was put out by Immutable after a $200 million round of funding. TikTok and GameStop have just developed an NFT marketplace using Immutable X, an Ethereum layer-2 scaling solution for games and NFTs.

The CEO and co-founder of Immutable, James Ferguson, assured staff that the firm is still in “a fantastic position,” according to reporting from CNET.

It has been said that despite recent layoffs, Immutable has no intentions to stop employing new personnel, particularly when it comes to working on Gods Unchained, or its future action role-playing game Guild of Guardians, which is being developed by Stepico Games.
