- Yuga Labs recently warned NFT platforms about the threat from the scammers.
Nowadays, the NFT sector is continuously facing threats from cyber attackers, more NFT platforms and communities are being the victim of attacks from them. The NFT influencer Zeneca is the new victim of scammers.
Zeneca’s Twitter account was hacked and a phony airdrop was advertised on the NFT influencer Twitter account. The fake advertisement promoted that Zeneca going to launch Zen Academy and only 333 passes are available. Following this, the users get an alert about the phishing scam, the phrase “DO NOT MINT ” started trending, and it took roughly 40 minutes for the tweet to be removed.
The NFT influencers still don’t have an idea of how the attackers got in charge and they also raised concerns about the implications of the continuous attacks on the NFT space.
Zeneca expressed;
We are never going to go mainstream as long as stuff like this keeps happening, and it is going to keep happening as long as it is profitable and worth it for the hackers to invest time into it.
Another Day, Another Victim
The blockchain platform Yuga Labs, creator of Bored Ape Yacht Club, has recently warned the NFT communities of the scammer’s threat.
Our security team has been tracking a persistent threat group that targets the NFT community. We believe that they may soon be launching a coordinated attack targeting multiple communities via compromised social media accounts. Please be vigilant and stay safe.

In a related incident, the NFT registration platform PREMINT got hacked by scammers. By inserting a malicious JS file onto the website, the hacker gained access to PREMINT’s system, unaware users were prompted to sign a transaction after clicking the link, which would give the hacker access to their NFTs. The users who clicked on a malicious link lost a combined total of about $430,000 and the firm recently confirmed the cyber attack on Twitter.
