WIRED Destroys Security Keys for Wallet with 13 BTC Bitcoin News
  • WIRED encrypts and destroys keys for it’s wallet with 13 BTC in 2013
  • The value amounts to a whopping $735540.00 currently.
  • WIRED reveals they did so to prove their point against BTC.

This is nothing new but the same old story of people underestimating the true power of cryptocurrencies and regretting their decisions now.

Accordingly, the famous only American technological and science magazine, the WIRED joins the league of its personal controversies with Bitcoin (BTC)

WIRED’s Regrets

The moment of truth gets revealed by Robert McMillian, one of the famous reporters till date who was working at the WIRED in 2013, though now he works for the Wall Street Journal.

McMillian reveals that in 2013, when the BTC and crypto started brewing slowly, out of curiosity he set up a BTC mining setup in his office at the WIRED. Also, note the fact the BTC miner was from the Butterfly Labs.

In addition, upon their total time with the BTC mining, they somehow managed to mine about 13.34623579 BTC. However, as the value of BTC was not so significant in price terms, everyone at that time word down upon BTC and the crypto industry.

McMillian’s Views on BTC Over Time

On the other hand, McMillian himself was totally not so impressed with BTC, termed that BTC is nothing but a rather simple idea without a solid product. Besides, he even termed BTC to be nothing but a daydream and an utter waste.

In order to prove to his words, McMillian declared at the time of 2013 that they are destroying and encrypting the wallet keys containing their 13 BTCs.

True to the fact, now McMillian reveals that his perceptions were wrong and yet, the wallet lies useless until or unless someone decrypts the security keys.
