Ubisoft and The Sandbox have teamed together to develop 2,066 unique Rabbids avatars, each with its own abilities and customization options. One NFT will set you back 100 SAND (about $78 USD at the time of publication). Seeing as how 2023 is the Year of the Rabbit, the characters’ avatars are decorated in a Chinese New Year style.
Huge Step Forward for NFT Gaming Industry
Buyers will be able to see the designs for the different avatars on Friday. The Sandbox will offer a Rabbids game world on February 28 with a limited set of activities.
The Rabbids avatars are described as a “key to future utility” in The Sandbox. Allowing users to get access to upcoming drops. The Sandbox expanded its NFT Institute to include Rabbids characters, NFTs, and accessories throughout the summer. But, the fact that Rabbids avatars can be purchased and used in-game is a huge step forward for the NFT gaming industry as a whole.
Ubisoft was one of the first major video game companies to take note of Web3 and act in relation to NFTs. The French video game giant developed a prototype of an NFT game in 2018 called HashCraft, and it was clearly influenced by Minecraft. The plan, however, was subsequently abandoned.
It has also put money into gaming studio Horizon and metaverse investment firm Animoca Brands. Likewise, it backed NFT video game development, which included games like Axie Infinity and Nine Chronicles. Ubisoft included Tezos-based NFTs in the PC edition of Ghost Recon Breakpoint.
