UAE’s Healthcare Industry is Up Next to Launch Into Metaverse

Crown Prince of Dubai Announces New Metaverse Strategy Metaverse
  • The Thumbay Group will launch UAE’s first metaverse hospital shortly.
  • With AR and VR technology, patients can interact with doctors virtually.

The healthcare firm Thumbay Group is set to launch the first metaverse hospital in the United Arab Emirates, by October this year. With the virtual healthcare service, the patients can visit the hospital and interact with the doctors using their customized avatars.

Dr.Thumbay Moideen, the founder of Thumbay Group, stated:

We are already working on it and expect it to launch before October this year. This will be a complete virtual hospital where people will come with an avatar and consult with the doctor. To cater to medical tourism, we will allow patients to see what the hospital looks like in the metaverse if they travel and come to Thumbay healthcare facility.

Experimenting Healthcare Service in Metaverse

With the virtual hospital, the Thumbay Group mainly focuses on a long-term healthcare facility for patients, particularly the permanently disabled patients. The firm will provide AR and VR headsets to bed-ridden patients, so they can interact with doctors while sitting at home.

According to Dr. Thumbay, long-term care through the metaverse will give motivation and hope to the patients.

Even though the firm hasn’t confirmed the fee, it will probably be the same as the teleconsultation fee from the doctors, as per Dr.Thumbay. Additionally, the vice-president of Thumbay Group, Akbar Moideen Thumbay, declared that, when a patient enters the hospital, cameras will detect his/her car number plate and then face, by integrating artificial intelligence into the hospital’s system.

In January, the UAE Ministry of Health and Community Protection launched the first metaverse consumer service center in Dubai, which was designed for 3D way interaction with customers. They can also enter into MetaHealth space, which provides virtual healthcare service. For this, the healthcare organization of UAE appointed some experienced personnel to train the doctors, in interacting with patients through the metaverse.
