Advisor For Digital Art Organization
Many of today’s emergent tech trends, from AI to the metaverse, were foretold in the 1999 film “The Matrix.” In which Reeves portrayed the hero Neo. Fans of Web3 have long wondered what Reeves makes of cryptocurrencies and similar technologies like NFTs.
Reeves further added::
“People are growing up with these tools: We’re listening to music already that’s made by AI in the style of Nirvana, there’s NFT digital art.”
Although he did admit that “it’s cool, like, look what the cute machines can make!” The “corporatocracy behind it that’s looking to control those things,” Reeves noted, worries him.
After rejecting NFT art as easily duplicated in an interview promoting “The Matrix Resurrections,” the actor has become an advisor for the digital art organization The Futureverse Foundation, which provides funding to artists who are interested in working in the NFT sector.
According to Reeves’ spouse and fellow Futureverse Foundation advisor Alexandra Grant, the charity is supported by NFT initiatives Non-Fungible Labs and Fluf World in an effort to make the metaverse accessible to even more individuals, particularly from poor backgrounds.
