The Shiba Inu (SHIB) development team has issued a crucial warning to their community regarding scams targeting SHIB investors. In a recent post on Discord by DaVinci, he warned that deceptive individuals are launching illicit tokens claiming alliance with the official SHIB ecosystem. DaVinci’s warning was shared by Shiba Inu community member Digarch on X yesterday.
Lucie, a prominent personality of the Shiba Inu team, has been on social media, persuading the community to stay vigilant. She emphasized not to share wallet keys, passwords, or other exclusive pieces of information. Moreover, she warned against affiliating wallets to unverified websites, which are often used by scammers to rob funds.
Rising Scams
This alert highlights the increasing frequency of scams, particularly those falsely affirming connection with Shiba Inu developers and the upcoming layer-2 solution for the Shiba Inu ecosystem. Further, they made intimation that the scammers may claim the release of the TREAT token, which was promised to be launched a long time ago and has not been released yet.
The SHIB Discord admin explained that these tokens are unable to be banned, due to the decentralized nature of ShibaSwap. The SHIB team asked everyone to be vigilant and “voice their strong disapproval of these scammers and their unethical practices.”
As the Shiba Inu ecosystem grows, the recurrence of scams is expected to increase as well. The official team continues to focus on the importance of taking precautions and conducting in-depth evaluations before any transactions related to Shiba Inu. The scam involves several methods to trap SHIB holders, including fake token sales, phishing links, and impersonation.
