Through a striking Melbourne mural, Binance, the leading cryptocurrency exchange in the world, has revealed the fan-designed racing helmet that Formula One driver Pierre Gasly will wear during this weekend’s season-opening race in Australia.
Through Binance’s worldwide Pierre Gasly Helmet Design Contest, a Brazilian fan came up with the winning design. Its top is carved with the country’s famous green and gold, national icons like the kangaroo and emu, and a tribute to the history of racing circuits.
Pierre and admirers were there as Matt Adnate, one of the most well-known street painters in the nation, brought the concept to life with an amazing mural against the Melbourne cityscape. An eagle, a formidable native of Victoria, is shown in the artwork as a sign of speed, accuracy, and the spirit of competition that propels the race.
The interactive augmented reality (AR) experience, which is perfectly incorporated into the mural, brings the whole helmet design to life. Through a QR code or this link, fans may tour the racing course and interact with the helmet from any perspective thanks to this immersive augmented reality feature, which is available worldwide.
In January 2025, the helmet design competition attracted more than 500 submissions from more than 75 nations, culminating in this remarkable announcement. Pierre Gasly and his team were part of the judging panel that selected the winning design.
Following the race, Gasly will auction his Australian helmet as part of the campaign, with the money raised going to CROW Youth Boxing, a local nonprofit organization that supports the development of First Nations youth communities.
Pierre Gasly said:
“The mural brings the winning helmet design to life in a bold, dynamic way. The contest showcased the passion and creativity of fans worldwide, and it’s incredible to see their vision come to life. Binance is continuing to bring fans closer to the sport, and I can’t wait to wear this design on track in Melbourne.”
The winning proposal was created by Brazilian motorsport fan Tiago Barra, who will now get a full-sized, autographed replica helmet.
Barra stated:
“I still can’t believe I won the contest – it’s an amazing feeling! I’m very excited to see the helmet in action for the season-opener in Melbourne. The design features Australia’s national colors – gold and green – with a nod to Binance’s signature colors. It also incorporates Pierre’s number 10 and symbols of resilience and speed, reflecting qualities of Pierre and the demands of the track!”
Sarah Dale, Binance Global Head of Partnerships stated:
“Building on the success of the 2023 campaign, the incredible global engagement in the second edition of the Pierre Gasly Helmet Design Contest highlights the strength of our partnership with Pierre and BWT Alpine F1 and the energetic blend of the crypto and F1 communities. This year, the winning design comes to life through a striking mural and immersive AR experience, bringing fans closer to the action. We’re excited to keep pushing boundaries and delivering unique, engaging experiences worldwide.”
