The reason behind Moo Deng’s dramatic price rise is Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin’s generous donation to the Hippo’s Khao Kheow Zoo in Thailand. As per the official post on X from Khao Kheow Zoo, Vitalik Buterin joined the Wildlife Sponsorship Program and adopted baby Moo Deng, donating 10 million in Thai Baht to its family.
Vitalik Buterin even sent a confirmation letter to the Zoo, stating he is excited to learn plans of improvement for the zoo and particularly, for pygmy hippopotamus habitat. Expressing gratitude for the warm welcome the Zoo authorities has provided during his visit, Vitalik Stated,
“I am delighted to accept your invitation to be Moo Deng’s adoptive father while she grows up, and to donate to the Zoo in her name, no less than 10,000,000 THB. I very much look forward to seeing Moo Deng live long and prosper, and how, alongside her, our family and community also thrive.”
The donation will be made in two installments each worth 5 million THB. While the first one will be made on December 26 as a Christmas present, the second one will be made within less than a year from today.
MOODENG Soared Over 70% With a 380% Rise in Volume
Within a few hours after the announcement of Vitalik Buterin’s donation, MOODENG token went on a sharp price surge of over 70%. The token is currently trading at around $0.0001958 and went to as high as $0.0002417 from the lows of $0.0001228 today. While the market cap is $80 million, with a 53% surge, trading volume increased by more than a staggering 380% today.
Moo Deng has made waves in the industry with an adorable pygmy hippopotamus animal behind the creation of the token. The token listing announcements from top crypto exchanges caused the MOODENG price to increase by 90% at the beginning of the month.
However, there are multiple tokens under the same ticker, which implies an extra caution is needed for investors while trading the memecoin.
