  • The wallet will be integrated into Edge rather than an add-on.
  • The Interface is straightforward when it comes to NFTs, with search functionality.

A Web3 wallet that supports cryptocurrencies and non-fungible tokens (NFTs) is apparently in the works for integration into Microsoft’s Edge browser. Software documenter and sometimes information leaker Albacore posted what seem to be early pictures of the company’s new Web3 wallet’s user interface (UI) on Twitter on March 17.

Albacore stated:

“Newest in the gauntlet of questionable upcoming Microsoft Edge features, a crypto wallet not really sure how to feel about this kind of thing being baked into the default browser.”

Non-custodial Wallet

On what seems to be an introduction page for the Edge wallet. Microsoft writes, that it wants users to try its first Web3 wallet and share frank feedback along the road. If true, the wallet will be integrated into Edge rather than an add-on. And it will be non-custodial, meaning that Microsoft will not have access to users’ passwords or recovery keys.

Moreover, screenshots demonstrate the ability to buy, sell, and trade cryptocurrencies, with Coinbase, a cryptocurrency exchange. And also MoonPay, a Web3 infrastructure provider, is shown as integrated platform. That enables you to buy and deposit crypto into one’s wallet.

The Interface is straightforward when it comes to NFTs, with search functionality. Microsoft’s possible action is the company’s latest in a series of recent attempts to considerably increase the offers and capabilities of Edge, which has typically trailed behind popular rivals like Google’s Chrome and Apple’s Safari.

On February 7th, Microsoft announced that its Bing and Edge browsers will be updated to include artificial intelligence (AI) powered search engines and chat through OpenAI’s ChatGPT.
