The Actor Joins Previously Announced Executive Producers Carmelo Anthony and Asani Swann, and Showrunner Kevin Shinick
LOS ANGELES–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#ExileContent–Exile Content Studio has added acclaimed actor Manuel García-Rulfo as an Executive Producer for its upcoming animated television series, Lil’ Heroes. The Lil’ Heroes franchise launched in January 2022, beginning as a NFT collection created by Spanish artist Edgar Plans, in partnership with Exile Content Studio, the film, television, audio, and digital production house founded by Isaac Lee and now part of Candle Media. García-Rulfo joins NBA superstar Carmelo Anthony, along with his producing partner and co-founder of Creative 7, Asani Swann, as executive producers on the series, which recently named veteran writer, producer, and voice-actor Kevin Shinick as Showrunner. García-Rulfo and Anthony will also voice characters in the new franchise.
García-Rulfo currently stars in the title role of the hit Netflix series, “The Lincoln Lawyer,” which is currently in production on its second season. He is also co-starring with Tom Hanks in “A Man Called Otto” for director Marc Forster and Sony. García-Rulfo’s other film credits include “The Magnificent Seven,” “6 Underground,” “Sicario: Day of the Soldado,” and “Murder on the Orient Express.” His role with Lil’ Heroes marks the first time García-Rulfo has taken on executive producer responsibilities for a series, and it’s his first-ever acting role in an animated project.
Daniel Eilemberg, Co-Founder and CEO of Lil’ Heroes, and Stephen Davis, Executive Producer of Exile Kids and Animation, said jointly: “All of us at Lil’ Heroes have admired Manuel’s growing body of work and accompanying accolades for some time now, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome him to the series as an executive producer and voice-actor. His dual role will uniquely enable him to create his character and the dynamic Lil’ Heroes universe, which we know is sure to delight and attract fans across the globe – no matter if they come to the franchise via our celebrated NFT collection or the TV series itself.”
“I’m so excited to be involved with this project and to work with Edgar Plans and Exile Content Studio to create something truly unique,” said García-Rulfo. “It’s a childhood fantasy come true to help develop an animated character and provide its voice.”
“As an artist, it’s especially fulfilling to see my characters brought to life through the actors who voice them and help fuel the personalities that capture the attention of the audience, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to have Manuel do so for Lil’ Heroes,” said Plans. “The artistic journey for Lil’ Heroes continues to grow, evolve, and blossom, and we’re fortunate to now have Manuel to help bring our ultimate vision to screens everywhere.”
Lil’ Villains, the next chapter in the Lil’ Heroes NFT collection, which is based on the concept that every story needs both a hero and a villain, is currently minting at LilVillains.io. The upcoming second collection pairs heroes and villains together to unlock utilities that give collectors access to a Training Camp that offers the opportunity to receive exclusive limited editions, merchandise, and event tickets.
