The Libra token controversy took a new turn when Argentine media revealed a shocking fact about this case. According to the report, Libra co-creator Hayden Davis boasted about being able to pay Argentine President Javier Milei’s sister for promoting a $LIBRA meme coin on their X account.
In the text message, Hayden Davis, CEO of Kelsier Ventures, asserted that he could control President Milei because of the payment he gave to Karina Milei, the president’s sister. In the text, Davis mentioned, “I send $$ to his sister, and he signs whatever I say and does what I want.”
Screenshots Revealed Truth Behind LIBRA Memecoin’s Scandal
On February 18, La Nación, an Argentine news outlet, reported that they had witnessed the text messages of Hayden Davis, the co-creator of the LIBRA token, sent to a crypto investment firm executive. These text messages revealed that Davis told the executive that he could pay Karina Milei for influence over the Argentine president.
Karina Milei is an influential figure in her brother’s government. She works as the general secretary in Argentina’s presidential office. She is a close adviser to her brother, President Javier Milei.
Hayden Davis sent these text messages in December to the pseudonymous executive. However, the executive firm rejected the offer. On this, Davis’s spokesperson claimed that Davis didn’t give any payments to either Javier or Karina Milei.
Regarding the whole scenario, Davis stated that,
“The reports that claimed that I paid Javier Milei or his sister Karina Milei to launch the Libra memecoin are false. I never made any payments to them, nor did they ask me for them.”
However, all these claims were unclear whether Davis paid money to Milei’s inner circle for Libra’s token promotion. Moreover, President Milei also stated that he had no connection with the LIBRA launch. He already clarified that X post was just for promoting digital currency in their country and to support local businesses.
