Let’s get started with your perspective on the event. What is your expectation about the AIBC event?

AIBC summit, I know the guys I got to know Iman when I was living in Malta for a couple of years in 2018. So this summit for me always means quality and quantity. The speaker line usually is very good as well as the participating partners and exhibitors. I won’t miss it for anything.

Who do you look forward to meeting at this event?

I just know that this is the place where I get to meet a lot of people from our business area, from our industry. It’s nice to catch up. This is quite an international event. So people come from all around the world and you can catch up and you pump into people like here.

Yesterday I met two people I haven’t seen for years who are on the scene. Of course, COVID played its role in between as well. And then of course, I do go around and check the exhibiting companies to see what their offering is and if there’s something new or cool or something you just simply can’t miss. So not a specific agenda, but kind of always an agenda.

Do you think that Dubai is the global crypto hub?

Well, I’ve been in Dubai since 2015 and I fell into the Rabbithole in 2017. So I’ve been in the space quite a while. I’ve been around. As I said, I lived in Malta in 2018-19, which was the time when they were announced to be the blockchain island. But obviously, now everyone has moved to Dubai and UAE. So in this context, I would like to actually emphasize that it’s UAE.

Abu Dhabi is doing amazing things as well as Sharia and so on and so forth, but in general, UAE. The atmosphere here is very entrepreneur-supporting and very innovative. So if you come to Dubai, for instance, and even anywhere in the UAE, and you look at the infrastructure around you, all these amazing buildings.

All of this goes into the mentality of entrepreneurship and business and innovations in Dubai. It’s supportive, it’s looking far to the future with the official initiatives that the government and the sheikh himself have addressed. And definitely to place to be and look into relocating or opening a subsidiary. So yes, it’s the place to be.

Most interesting application of blockchain or web3?

Oh, that’s a tricky one for KryptoGranny. I’m an actual granny for two, so I’m an old person. For me, it’s more like technology in general. So the thing that got me excited and interested, that still drives me, like when I wake up in the morning, is the idea of having a blockchain that would allow us to trust again.

Obviously, I hope that a lot of the applications and projects out there are truly solving real problems, not just self-made, which in my opinion we see a bit too much. But I would not want to even name a specific application or platform even.

Because it comes down to what your main goal or eventual target is, and what you want to fix. Because until now, as human beings, we have done really poorly. We haven’t done that good job. Yeah. So I think there is a lot to be fixed going forward to have a brighter, fairer, better future.

You use the platform or the applications or develop whatever you’re developing that would make sense in that regard. But bear in mind that the user experience and user interfaces are the keys.

Your opinions on the bank crash that happened last week?

Silicon Valley Bank or FTX or whatever you name them has nothing simply nothing to do with what we are trying to create, what we want to achieve. It has all to do with humans, humans trusting humans, and it has nothing to do with technology. It has nothing to do with the fact that with the help of technology, you can double-check. And you can be sure it’s transparent, it’s secure, and it’s immutable when it comes to blockchain.

And if you just trust people, well, nothing has changed. So the revolution, if you wish, the positive and good for a better future that I have joined, has nothing to do with recent events. And I think it’s only good that these things happen. Because we can definitely point out that this is not what we are doing, and this is not what we want.

We want the technology that’s providing trust and transparency and then it’s up to you to do the due diligence. But if you want to trust the person, go ahead. But the result probably is something we have just seen. So, yes, that’s not the way forward. And it’s good we get them, so we get to return back to the right track. And remember what we are doing and why we are here.
