Another 500 Bitcoins were recovered by the Irish authorities as part of the investigation. This was an international criminal group engaged in drug trafficking where cryptocurrency proceeds were used. The recovery was announced in a Facebook statement and in an X post by the Criminal Assets Bureau (CAB) on July 2. According to the posts, 500 BTC, whose value is around €27 million ($30.9 million), were recovered as proceeds of the crime.
As a result of the seizure, the total number of Bitcoin recoveries in 2026 reached 1,500 BTC, whose total value exceeds €80 million ($90 million). They were also related to the same criminal case. The law enforcement agencies are looking for other cryptocurrency proceeds of this criminal organization.
CAB, supported by Europol's European Cybercrime Centre, confirm the seizure of a further 500 BTC, current valuation of approx. €27 million.
