io.net Joins Forces with Filecoin Community to Boost Storage Provider’s Use Cases

Leading decentralized cloud service io.net recently revealed a partnership with the Filecoin community, which is a big milestone for the decentralized data storage industry. By collaborating with Filecoin Storage Providers (SPs), io.net gives SPs the chance to expand their revenue streams and use cases, which enhances the return on hardware expenditures.

As a result of this expanding partnership, Filecoin SPs will have the chance to provide GPUs to io.net and increase the income from their hardware to improve the efficiency of their whole infrastructure. With the help of this endeavor, Storage Providers will have more opportunities to explore sophisticated applications such as machine learning (ML) and go beyond the realm of decentralized storage.

io.net is a community-driven project that aims to interact with Filecoin SPs and the larger ecosystem. To that end, it has started onboarding SPs. In fact, of the more than 17,000 GPUs that are onboarded and live, 1,500 GPUs are now provided by Filecoin SPs.

io.net and the Filecoin community have been working together to provide growth opportunities for SPs and other players in the Filecoin ecosystem, further solidifying their partnership.

During a weekly Storage Provider Working Group Call in August, Ahmad Shadid, the founder and CEO of io.net, gave SPs an overview of the decentralized cloud service. Subsequently, Shadid gave a keynote address at the significant Filecoin community gathering FIL-Vegas in October, and io.net supported the invite-only FIL Dev Summit in Singapore in September.

The io.net CEO stated:

“To say that we are looking forward to further collaboration with the talented Filecoin community would be a gross understatement.”

Shadid further added:

“Having identified a major need for GPUs, we wanted to build a platform that people could trust. This particular initiative with Filecoin is not just about expanding use cases or diversifying income streams for hard-working Storage Providers. It’s about enriching the decentralized data economy as well, and fostering a symbiotic relationship where both io.net and Filecoin SPs can grow and thrive together. I believe that by leveraging the strengths of our respective technologies, we can unlock tremendous growth and drive innovation in the decentralized cloud and storage sectors.”

Ahmad Shadid’s sentiments were echoed by Jonathan Victor, Ecosystem Lead of Protocol Labs.

Victor stated:

“This initiative is a testament to the power of collaboration in the decentralized data storage and computing industry, where combined efforts lead to innovative solutions and greater opportunities for all.”

The Ecosystem Lead of Protocol Labs further added:

“Generating datasets in close proximity to storage hardware is naturally symbiotic for both ecosystems and sets the stage for fully protocol managed ML workflows. As io.net brings web2 demand to Filecoin’s SPs, it brings new capital flows into the Filecoin economy as well – and as Filecoin supports more datasets and distribution offerings it can better serve the io.net community. We’re excited to see how this relationship unfolds and the new frontiers it will open up for both Filecoin SPs and the broader community.”
