A picture of Garlinghouse and the word “VICTORY!!” were tweeted with a bogus link from the hijacked account. Authorities and individuals alike are becoming concerned about the prevalence of crypto fraud on social media.

Scammers often assume the identities of reputable organizations or people in order to convince their victims to part with money or personal information. Especially via phoney contests or investment opportunities. Hackers in this instance utilized Garlinghouse’s likeness and name. In order to trick History Channel viewers into falling for a scam. That might cost them a lot of money if they weren’t careful.
Massive Fan Base and Popularity
The History Channel’s social media accounts are tempting targets for hackers. Because of the channel’s massive fan base and the popularity of its documentary programs and historical programming. Moreover, the History Channel, which has its origins at A+E Networks, is a well-known media outlet that airs a wide variety of shows that explore historical events, biographies, and documentaries.
History’s Spanish-language counterpart, History Latinoamérica, focuses on a regional Latin American audience. The @HistoryLA Twitter account being hacked shows that not even well-recognized media outlets are safe from cyber threats.
