Gemini Skips MIT Grads As Gensler Joins the University as Professor

Gemini Skips MIT Grads As Gensler Joins the University as Professor Market News
  • Gemini co-founder Tyler Winklevoss doesn’t hire MIT students unless Gensler drops his role as a Professor at the university.
  • Ex-SEC Chair Gary Gensler returned to MIT as Professor of Practice in Finance and Economics Groups.

Co-founder of Gemini crypto exchange and renowned crypto personality, Tyler Winklevoss made a public statement today. The exchange platform is not going to hire students or graduates from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). However, the exchange might change its statement if Gary Gensler drops out from the Professor role at the university.

Tyler Winkelvoss posted on X stating, Gemini won’t hire MIT graduates as long as Ex-SEC chair Gensler is associated with it. Even interns for Gemini’s summer internship program are going to include any MIT students.

The news doesn’t surprise you if you are someone who follows all the latest updates from the crypto industry. Gary Gensler’s tough stance against the crypto industry is well-known across the crypto community. In fact, he is one of the key personalities behind why the US is lagging behind crypto innovation and development in the country.

Gemini Co-founder Tyler Says Gensler is Evil

The Biden administration filed several lawsuits against crypto projects and didn’t encourage innovation. Particularly, Ex-SEC Chair Gary Gensler viewed crypto as a scam. Referring to the same, Tyler opined Gensler is evil and should never have a position of influence, power, or consequence after the US elections in 2024.

However, Gensler was re-hired at MIT as a Professor of Practice in the Global Economics and Management Group and the Finance Group. He is going to teach artificial intelligence, finance, fintech, and public policy. This news has been making rounds since yesterday, to which Tyler Winklevoss reacted, skipping MIT grads from Gemini hiring.

New Pro-Crypto US Administration Under Donald Trump

Pro-crypto Donald Trump not only promised to make the US a crypto capital but also made several moves in favor of it. After Gensler dropped out of his SEC chairman role, Trump made Mark Uyeda the new chairperson. And, Trump also made Hester Peirce the head of a new crypto task force unit.

The difference in crypto stance between the previous and current US administrations is evident. And, Trump is not going to stop until he makes the US a leading global country in crypto. While the Biden administration and Gary Gensler gave a hard time to crypto projects, Trump has gathered a pro-crypto team to help the industry thrive in the country.
