Ethereum Layer 2 scaling solution zkSync has announced its latest mega upgrade, named Boojum, aimed at enhancing overall performance and efficiency. The upgrade introduces a STARK-powered proof system, enabling improved performance on consumer-grade hardware. Boojum includes the RUST-based cryptographic library, powering the upgraded ZK circuit version for zkSync Era and the ZK Stack.

The upgrade offers several benefits, including significantly higher efficiency with orders of magnitude beyond the current 100 transactions per second (TPS) capability.
