Dora Factory Announces Historic $DORA Token Airdrop and MACI Voting Round

Dora Factory, the pioneering infrastructure of decentralized governance technology and public good funding, has announced a gas fee airdrop of its native token, $DORA, to every ATOM stakers on June 5, 2024. The $DORA token airdrop campaign invites the Cosmos community to engage in the governance of its democratic public goods funding program, the ATOM Economic Zone Quadratic funding, on DoraHacks.io. More than a million addresses are eligible to get the token. The privacy voting round that the Dora team is implementing will be the biggest MACI (Minimum Anti Collusion Infrastructure) voting round ever, with 1.05 million addresses whitelisted.

1.05 Million ATOM Stakers are Eligible for the Airdrop

All ATOM stakers got $DORA tokens in their wallets on June 5. The native token of the decentralized governance application chain Dora Vota, developed by the Dora Factory using the Cosmos SDK, is $DORA.

This is one of the biggest airdrops ever recorded. With more than a million addresses, Dora Factory hopes to inspire the Cosmos community—which is well-known for its enthusiasm of decentralized governance—to take part in an important community-wide public goods governance experiment.

Commencing AEZ Quadratic Funding

Cosmos communities may take part in the ATOM Economic Zone (AEZ) quadratic funding endeavor, which is being jointly launched by DoraHacks, Dora Factory, and ATOM Accelerator DAO, after obtaining the airdrop. Users may utilize ATOM to help early-stage developers, vote for and donate to public goods teams they value, and decide how to allocate 80,000 ATOM and $200,000 USDC matching fund over 10 rounds of AEZ Quadratic Funding and MACI voting. The community may use $DORA to pay for gas fees, and the smart contracts for this quadratic voting round are implemented on the Dora Vota network.

This campaign is a democratic governance experiment intended to mobilize community power in favor of public goods and talented early-stage developers. It goes beyond just allocating the reward pool to early-stage projects and vital public goods in AEZ in the first round. The quadratic funding system makes sure that community members’ little donations have a big influence.

MACI Voting with Privacy Enshrined

Community members are invited to vote in the MACI (Minimal Anti-Collusion Infrastructure) privacy voting by Dora Factory. Selected teams will receive a $20,000 USDC prize pool. This approach, in contrast to conventional quadratic voting, enables voters to voice their thoughts on public goods without disclosing their identity (address). More ATOM staked addresses will earn more Voice Credits, or voting power.

Dora Factory wants to provide the Cosmos community with state-of-the-art privacy-enabled voting technology using MACI voting. With this endeavor, a greater variety of governance use cases in the future will be able to use secure, private, and anti-collusion technologies.

Dora Factory’s Commitment

In order to guarantee that any member of the community may cast a ballot without any worries, Dora Factory will use the native Gas Station feature of Dora Vota to pay for all voting fees during the MACI voting round. Dora Factory’s dedication to the community, as stated in Cosmos Governance Proposal 917, is reflected in this fee subsidy.

A Historical Community Governance Ceremony

Now that Dora Vota for the Cosmos Hub has the quadratic funding module natively integrated, Cosmos has the potential to grow into one of the biggest on-chain communities supporting public goods. The first phase of the two-year quadratic funding plan for the ATOM Economic Zone, which will begin in June 2024, has drawn interest from a number of exceptional projects and is awaiting community members’ attention and support.

The Largest Privacy-Preserving Governance Experiment

The Cosmos community has accomplished a great deal with MACI implementation, which is its first effort at privacy voting. More than a million addresses have been added to Dora Factory’s whitelist, a record for the largest whitelist and the biggest voting experiment in MACI’s history. The Dora Factory team is thrilled to extend an invitation to the Cosmos community to get together and make history collectively.
