Reportedly facing indictment and investigation by US federal authorities, Terra co-founder Do Kwon has retained the services of one the biggest legal firm in the world, Dentons. Do Kwon has been represented by Dentons before. Many times he sought legal counsel from Dentons to fight subpoenas and lawsuits.
The bail for house arrest of Terra co-founder Do Kwon was cancelled after prosecutors contested the bail for flight risk and bail amount in his passport fraud case in Montenegro. Do Kwon has retained the services of the Dentons legal firm to defend him in pending litigation and investigations in the United States as discussion of his extradition heats up.
Dentons is the biggest legal company in terms of the number of attorneys it employs, placing it sixth on the 2023 list of global law companies. In February, the United States Securities and Exchange Commission filed a lawsuit against Do Kwon and Terraform Labs for fraud and the sale of unregistered securities.
Both South Korea and U.S Want Do Kwon
Securities fraud, wire fraud, commodities fraud, and conspiracy were among the eight counts on which Do Kwon was indicted by the United States District Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York in March.
Do Kwon was previously represented by Dentons in a class action litigation in the Singapore High Court in 2022 and a challenge to a subpoena issued by the US SEC during its investigation into Mirror Protocol in 2021. The legal firm also acts for Terra in other pending litigation.
South Korean authorities are getting ready to bring Do Kwon back, with prosecutors there saying they have more cases and evidence against him. Both U.S. and South Korea want Do Kwon extradited.
