A decentralized liquidity pool, Curve Finance has changed its official web domain from Curve.fi to Curve.finance after a DNS hijack that opened the way to a phishing attack. A spokesperson of the platform revealed that the new domain is safer to use.
He also made clear that all the funds were secured and safe during and after the incident. He further clarified that its smart contracts, as well as internal systems, were also not compromised, and the services were completely functional.
The platform mentioned that it changed its domain because of prolonged downtime and measured support from the .fi domain registrar. The Curve team posted on X, mentioning that the .fi will be down for a long time, and there is no point in moving back.
Also, it mentioned that registrars managing .finance domains are providing better responsiveness and trust as compared to that of the previous one, .fi domains. The violation was also restricted to the DNS layer and didn’t consist of any unauthorized access to internal infrastructure.
The Advancements Will Be Updated Timely
The Curve Finance spokesperson highlighted that none of the platform’s password protections or 2FA systems were evaded. He also mentioned that the incident is still under investigation and the team is finding out how the breach occurred.
And, in the current scenario, the team does not have more details than this to disclose. They also assured that the updates will be shared very soon as they get any information. The team made another post on X on May 13 to mention that the team has taken quick steps to isolate the affected systems and started a complete investigation.
Curve also included security partners as well as its domain registrar to restore normal operations. However, the delay in the response of registrar was a major factor in the decision to leave the previous domain.
Also, the team updated that the registrar has successfully frozen the Curve.fi domain and has disabled the malicious drainer.
