- The Pallene upgrade’s release is in line with Cronos’ newly revealed roadmap.
- Through Cosmos SDK 0.50, Pallene now adds optimistic execution, which improves network performance.
The Cronos EVM v1.4.0 Pallene upgrade, which Cronos has completed, will significantly improve the network’s transaction processing power. With capabilities that would boost transaction processing by up to 600 times, the upgrade marks a major breakthrough in blockchain scalability.
The use of Block-STM technology, which permits parallel transaction processing inside individual blocks, is at the core of the Pallene upgrade. This will put Cronos EVM in a position to satisfy the rigorous needs of next-generation blockchain applications by enabling the virtual machine to process up to 60,000 transactions per second (TPS).
Through Cosmos SDK 0.50, Pallene now adds optimistic execution, which improves network performance and streamlines block processing. Furthermore, cross-chain connectivity has been reinforced with a revision to the Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC) protocol, which makes it easier for Cronos to communicate with other blockchain networks.
Cronos Managing Director Ken Timsit said:
“The Pallene upgrade is a defining milestone for Cronos EVM, as it positions the network to meet the scalability demands of next-generation blockchain applications. The blockchain’s virtual machine can now execute up to 60,000 transactions per second in parallel. The next step is to remove any remaining bottlenecks at the networking layer, making Cronos EVM future-proof to support the rapid evolution of AI agents and other emerging use cases.”
With the latest upgrade, Cronos EVM is positioned as a blockchain network that is ready for the future and can handle advanced use cases like web3 gaming, decentralized finance (DeFi), and AI-driven agentic experiences. By automating complicated user tasks like portfolio management and dapp interactions, AI agents in particular are anticipated to significantly impact web3 adoption. To support this increased activity, Pallene’s improved processing capability will be crucial.
Layer 1 networks are putting more and more emphasis on scalability solutions to handle rising transaction volumes, which is shown in the use of parallel transaction processing. For the Cronos EVM network to sustain the expected spike in AI agent activity, these enhancements will be very important.
The Pallene upgrade’s release is in line with Cronos’ newly revealed roadmap, which highlights how AI agents have the ability to revolutionize web3 adoption. Cronos is establishing itself as a major participant in the next wave of blockchain and artificial intelligence innovation by giving the network the resources it needs to enable these in-demand applications.
Leading blockchain ecosystem Cronos (cronos.org) has teamed with Crypto.com and over 500 contributors and application developers, representing an addressable user base of over 100 million people globally. With an emphasis on decentralized finance and gaming, Cronos aims to open up the financial future for everybody by facilitating the safe and simple adoption of web3 and self-custody by communities. AI agents will serve as the new interface between users and the network.
With over 6 billion US dollars in user assets, Cronos is one of the top 15 blockchain ecosystems. Over 150 million transactions have been securely settled since its beginning. It includes three chains: Cronos POS, a leading Cosmos chain for payments and NFTs; Cronos EVM, the top Ethereum-compatible blockchain based on the Cosmos SDK; and Cronos zkEVM, a new high performance layer 2 network secured by Ethereum.
Cronos ($CRO), a blue chip cryptocurrency, is used to pay transaction fees. Cronos Labs, a $100 million web3 start-up accelerator dedicated to DeFi, GameFi, and the growth of the Cronos ecosystem, supports Cronos.
