  • Chainlink Functions allow dApps to connect to any Web2 API.
  • Chainlink Functions simplifies the task of connecting smart contracts off-chain in minutes.

Chainlink, a provider of blockchain data, recently unveiled a platform that will let programmers link data to smart contracts. Developers can connect their decentralized applications (dApps) or smart contracts to any Web2 API using Chainlink Functions, and then use the network’s highly secure and dependable platform to perform custom computations on it in a matter of minutes.

With blockchain technology, Chainlink seeks to provide products that will connect the entire world. To enable token transfers and communication across all blockchains, the company revealed a collaboration with SWIFT, an interbank messaging system, in September.

Kemal El Moujahid, the Chief Product Officer of Chainlink Labs, stated:

Our goal is to enable developers to combine the best of web3 smart contracts with the power of Web 2.0 APIs.

The Ethereum-focused protocol Chainlink, which offers an oracle network to support smart contracts, is well-known. In essence, it links on-chain data to external systems to enable smart contracts to carry out transactions based on inputs and outputs from the real world. Since mid-February, the platform has reportedly allowed transactions worth more than $7 trillion.
