In order to have a significant influence on the financial industry, one must see how Web3 and platform adoption evolves, as well as how widely people use them in their everyday lives. Catalonia’s director-general for innovation, Daniel Marco, spoke at the European Blockchain Convention (EBC) 2022 about some of the most important steps the government has made to turn the area into a digital powerhouse.
Digital Economy Along With Own Metaverse
The digital economy has been widely popularized by the COVID-19 epidemic that has occurred over the previous two years, according to Marco. He then cited the example of Europe, where the energy and other digital contracts have been digitized.
To help Catalonia become known as a “Smart Country” on the international scale, Marco was appointed head of SmartCatalonia Government Strategy in 2014. He also plans to create a digital economy inspired by the actual world by using blockchain technology and the metaverse. He disclosed that a Catalan metaverse named Cataverse is now being built by the government of Catalonia.
The Minister of Innovation and Technology in Catalonia revealed intentions to turn Barcelona into a digital center. Many things, according to him, hinge on young people’s ability to learn and grow intellectually. As a result, the government has enacted regulations and established university programs to help them do just that.
He went on to say that the government is attempting to achieve a balance between developing fresh talent and attracting more companies by providing a welcoming workplace. Barcelona’s minister listed a project on personal healthcare and a few others related to public transportation when asked about blockchain initiatives visitors might participate in while visiting the city.
