The victim of a deadly stabbing in downtown San Francisco has been named Bob Lee, founder of Cash App and former chief technology officer of Jack Dorsey’s Block. The SFPD homicide is now looking into the case. Lee, 43, was reportedly discovered stabbed to death on Tuesday morning in the 400 block of Main Street in SoMa.

The police said that medical treatment was given to the tech executive in the Bay Area. Further lifesaving efforts were provided by first responders who were dispatched to the location. Lee was brought to the hospital, but he later died there from his wounds. Lee was an employee at Google in the 2000s and contributed to the creation of Android. Krista and their two children are all that remains of Lee’s family.

Tributes to the CEO Flooded

While no one has been apprehended as of yet, the inquiry is still ongoing. Anybody with information is requested to contact the SFPD’s 24-hour Tip Line, as stated by the authorities. Tributes to the CEO who had been MobileCoin’s chief product officer since November 2021 flooded in across various social media channels after the news of his passing.

Jack Dorsey, the founder of Block, also shared the news of Lee’s passing on the decentralized social network Nostr. Bill Barhydt, CEO of cryptocurrency wallet business Abra, also expressed his sadness over the tragedy. Lee, who pioneered the Cash App mobile payment system, most recently served as Chief Product Officer at Mobile Coin.
