As far as the Cardano ecosystem is concerned, its founder Charles Hoskinson expects a big event to take place around June. According to Hoskinson’s June 9 X announcement, Cardano Node is expected to reach version 9.0 this month, and the Chang fork is coming soon.
This signifies that 70% of the stake pool operators (SPO) need to install the new node before the Cardano blockchain may undergo the hard fork. As Hoskinson pointed out, the most recent stage of Cardano’s growth is the “Age of Voltaire,” and the next step might be a hard fork.
Era’s of Cardano
Major personalities in the fields of poetry and computer science, such as Lord Byron, Percy Bysshe Shelley, Joseph Goguen, Matsuo Bashō, and Voltaire, are honored with the names of the development stages, or “eras,” of Cardano.
Decentralization, smart contracts, and a primitive blockchain were deployed in the first three phases. Blockchain scalability is the primary concern of the Basho period. The last era, Voltaire, enhances the Cardano blockchain with features for voting, budget management, and governance.
The Voltaire era of Cardano’s roadmap will begin with the Chang hard fork. In this era, community-run governance will be introduced via the implementation of on-chain community consensus and the ability for Cardano token holders to cast votes on proposals.
An early pioneer in Cardano governance, Phil Chang, who died in 2022, is honored by the upgrade’s name. A “decentralized civilization spanning the entire world with millions of residents” will be possible thanks to the blockchain ecosystem, which the co-founder of Cardano claims will be made possible by Chang, the most important event in Cardano’s history.
