- Cardano to create a blockchain solution, to guarantee the quality of Georgian wine.
- The collaboration will benefit individual wineries, and enhance customer engagement.
According to the recent announcement from the Cardano Foundation, the platform is developing a blockchain solution on its ecosystem, to assure the quality and authenticity of Georgian wine. For this, the leading blockchain technology partnered with the National Wine Agency of Georgia, the Bolnisi Winemakers Association, and Scantrust.
Mel McCann, Cardano’s Vice President of Engineering stated:
The Cardano Foundation prides itself on technical integration initiatives that foster the development of solutions for companies and systems of all kinds. This collaboration will develop a creative, cost-effective, and flexible certification and traceability system, which will provide transparency and authenticity for wineries and customers from point of harvest to point of consumption.
The four partners will work together to create a flexible, open track and trace solution to enhance Georgia’s standing as a premier wine producer internationally, as per the announcement.
Cardano to Assure Wine’s Quality
The Cardano Foundation will oversee the collaboration, which will assist individual wineries by establishing a shared, scalable platform that is cost-effective for winemakers and enhances customer engagement. Also, a prototype program serving both local and export markets will be expanded in Bolnisi city. It will feature up to 100,000 bottles of wine harvested in the autumn of 2022 and bottled in the spring of 2023.
The bottles will have a distinctive label with a one-of-a-kind and secure QR code. This will allow customers to verify the authenticity of the products and learn more about their history. Additionally, the National Wine Agency will leverage the Cardano blockchain to generate open, verifiable records from existing wine certification data on wine aimed at export markets.
