Since a private key is required to access a Bitcoin wallet, a group is attempting to go beyond the pale by trying to implant Bitcoin into the genetic code of mice. A decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) is considering a bizarre plan: genetically altering mice so that their DNA may be used to store bitcoins. On January 25, BitMouseDAO was launched.

As it turns out, BitMouseDao was not invented by a geneticist but rather by an unknown artist who came up with the concept while waiting to go to sleep. He even took the time to jot down the thought and begin to think about its potential applications.

Non-Harmful Virus Will Deliver

The team behind BitMouseDAO is inspired by Eduardo Kac’s work and thinks it would be “very fascinating” to put money into a living animal. To others, the notion doesn’t seem extraordinary but simply weird. There is no need to worry about the mice’s well-being. BitMouseDAO states that a non-harmful virus will deliver the private key or, if gene editing is used, useful proteins would not be targeted that would affect the mice.

BitMouseDAO team stated:

“We had a meeting with bio companies last weekend to explore the possibility of implementing it, and they said it was absolutely possible to edit into a fertilized egg and be heritable because that’s what they do every day doing things for pharmaceutical companies and labs, this is a very mature and safe program.”

As a hopeful sign of the current sanity of the crypto market, no one has shown interest in the concept. With just two investors, BitMouseDAO is a long way from its objective of putting bitcoins in mice’s genetic makeup.
