The 19th Annual Artificial General Intelligence Conference, or AGI-26, will be held in San Francisco from July 27–30, 2026, according to the AGI Society. The event will bring together academics, engineers, and thinkers in a hybrid format that allows for both in-person and virtual participation, making it the first significant conference series devoted only to the development of artificial intelligence at the human level and beyond.
The AGI Conference has been a focal point for academics working toward the long-standing objective of general intelligence since its founding in 2008. As theoretical research progressively converts into systems capable of reasoning, adaption, and larger generalization, the 2026 edition comes at a time when AI development is rapidly accelerating.
“AGI is the most important scientific and engineering quest of our era. This conference exists to ensure that the quest is guided by rigor, imagination, and responsibility,” said Matt Ikle, Conference Chair.
Many of the pioneers who shaped the field will be present at AGI-26, together with the R&D leaders who are now pushing its limits. Yoshua Bengio, Jürgen Schmidhuber, Peter Norvig, Richard Sutton, François Chollet, Christof Koch, Ben Goertzel, Michael Levin, and Gary Marcus are among the previous speakers in the AGI conference series, demonstrating the conference’s function as a platform for intense discussion, conflicting frameworks, and long-term visions of intelligence.
Peer-reviewed paper presentations, seminars, tutorials, and hardware demonstrations will all be included in the four-day program. Credible routes from narrow AI to AGI, safety and alignment procedures, and biological cognition findings that might guide scalable general intelligence systems are some of the major topics.
